How to Turn Off Your Pop-up Blocker
Pop-ups are one of the most annoying things about browsing the web. By opening right on top of the content you want to view, they’re a huge in-your-face distraction. It’s no wonder so many internet users are relying on pop-up blockers to get rid of these pesky ads.
There are, however, legitimate pop-ups that websites use to communicate critical information. And sometimes pop-up blockers can block windows that you actually want (or need) to see. This includes things like options screens for printing or downloading, download confirmations, or results pages.
If you need to turn off the pop-up blocker in your browser, we’ve got you covered.

Do you use an ad blocker to block pop-ups? If you’re using the AdBlock extension, you can temporarily disable it to allow pop-ups in a couple of clicks. In fact, it’s easy to pause and unpause AdBlock so that there’s minimal interruption to your protection.
To turn off AdBlock temporarily:
- Click on the red AdBlock stop sign in the upper right corner of your Chrome browser. If you don’t see it there, click the puzzle piece and it should be listed in a dropdown menu of your extensions.
2. Under Pause on this site, click Once.
The red stop sign will turn into a green thumb, confirming that you’ve paused AdBlock.
Once you’ve finished reading your article or watching your video, you don’t have to do anything to turn AdBlock back on. When you navigate to another website or click on a different page on the same website, AdBlock will immediately start blocking ads for you again.
